Latimer Hinks Ball raises thousands for charity
Latimer Hinks has raised £8,500 for a host of local charities at its 2012 charity ball.
The Latimer Hinks 2012 Charity Ball, held at Wynyard Hall, has generated vital funds for The Soldiers Charity, Grace House Hospice and St Teresas Hospice as well as a variety of smaller local charities. It brings the total raised by Latimer Hinks at its charity balls to £55,000.
Tim Haggie, Managing and Senior Partner at the Darlington-based firm of solicitors, said: “Our seventh annual charity ball went very well with over 250 attending and several thousand pounds being raised for some very worthwhile causes.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of both companies and individuals. We are very pleased to have raised vital funds for important charities including the Soldiers Charity, which provides lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families in times of financial need.
“St Teresas Hospice provides hospice care, day therapy as well as family support and bereavement services to families in south Durham and North Yorkshire.
“Grace House Childrens Hospice is another very deserving charity. It will be the North Easts first standalone childrens hospice and the money raised will help to help fund the building and equipping of the new hospice. Grace House will provide care free of charge to terminally-ill children and young adults across our region, from Alnwick and the borders down to Middlesbrough and Teesside.
Regional Director of Fundraising for The Soldiers Charity, Brian De La Haye said: “In the past two years, The Soldiers Charity has seen an increase of 30% in applications for support from soldiers who have taken part in current or past conflicts and we must raise £7 million per year in order to meet this demand.
“The support of firms such as Latimer Hinks is hugely important to our work.
Charity Ball highlights included entertainment from the nine-piece live party band Huge, charity auctions, a silent raffle as well as a magic act.
