Brides and grooms raise more than £3000 for North East charities
Young solicitors at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, one of Darlington and County Durhams longest established law firms raised more than £3,300 by hosting a charity ball with a difference where guests dressed as brides and grooms!
The Brides Ball was organised to raise money for three local charities, the Holistic Cancer Care Centre at James Cook University Hospital, Age UK (Darlington), and St Teresas Hospice, in Darlington three of several charities with which the firm feels a close connection.
The event took place at Rockliffe Hall, Hurworth, and included a three course meal, entertainment including a band, Sunshine Daze, a DJ, auction and tombola.
The Holistic Cancer Care Centre was chosen because of the support a colleague Joanne Gilligan has received during her own battle with cancer.
One of the events organisers, solicitor Helen Thomas said: “The support the Brides Ball received was fantastic, from colleagues and the local business community, which rallied to provide a huge array of amazing prizes and auction lots. I think the innovative nature of the event and the dress code proved very attractive and people loved having the opportunity to get dressed up as brides and grooms.
Fellow organiser, solicitor Natalie Palmer, a Trustee for Age UK (Darlington) said: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Brides Ball, either as guests or donors of the many gifts which went to make the auction and tombola so successful. Three excellent charities will benefit from the money raised and we are over the moon with the support people have given to the event.
