Latimer Hinks to host free event on planning fora more secure future

Latimer Hinks, the Darlington-based legal practice, is offering free advice on how to plan for a secure and happy future for you and your family at an open event in the town.

The event, to be held at the Dolphin Centre on the 30th September – from 2pm until 4pm – will be hosted by partner Anne Elliott alongside three other members of Latimer Hinks. The team will discuss subjects such as Wills, Asset Protection and Powers of Attorney; exploring the legal tools people can use to protect themselves and their loved ones from the implications of old age and the unwelcome realities of life.

Anne said: In these difficult economic and rapidly changing times, people are naturally worried about their familys future. For example, many people have questions about planning for their old age who will pay for nursing or residential care and how can we provide financial protection for our families. We are hosting this event to help people understand the legal options available to them.

The event is open to anyone wanting more information on a broad range of subjects from writing or updating wills to appointing an attorney to look after finances and/or medical issues, long term care issues and asset protection. The event is intended purely to provide advice and information on a no obligation basis.

Anne added: The legal frameworks within which we work is ever changing. Over the past couple of years, the laws governing both Inheritance Tax and Powers of Attorney have undergone radical review and revision.

In terms of planning opportunities, some doors have closed and others have opened. Always look to review your existing arrangements and in the case of wills we recommend reviews every 2-5 years. Within that time frame, most families will have experienced a birth, death, marriage or divorce. These family events, even without changes in the law, can all affect your will.

Most people with partners and/or children worry more about the future for their loved ones than themselves. With this event we hope to show people how they can make arrangements now to secure everyones future.
