Over £16,000 raised at the Latimer Hinks charity ball

More than £16,000 has been raised at a charity ball organised by Latimer Hinks Solicitors, one of Darlington and County Durhams longest established law firms.

It brings the total raised by the eight charity balls hosted by Latimer Hinks to more than £70,000, since the firms inaugural ball in 1998.

The Latimer Hinks Charity Ball 2014, which was held at Wynyard Hall, generated vital funds for St Teresas Hospice and the County Durham Community Foundation, as well as a variety of smaller local charities.

HSBC, which supported the event, donated £1,000 to the evening, after agreeing to match £1 for £1 up to £1,000 on monies raised.

Anne Elliott, marketing partner at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, said: “The 2014 charity ball was a fantastic occasion, and I would like to thank everyone who attended or donated to some very worthwhile causes. This is the first year we have opened the ball to sponsorship, and in particular I would like to thank HSBC, Recognition PR, Lewis Surveying Associates, Sherwoods Limited, Ad Agency and MT Print for their sponsorship as, without it, the total amount raised would have been much less.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of businesses, clients, colleagues and friends who contributed towards the huge amount raised. Funds are critical to the work of St Teresas Hospice and of the Foundation in providing care and support to local people and charitable causes in the area. We are also keen to help some smaller less well known and less well supported charities.

Mrs Elliott added: “Since our first charity ball in 1998, we have managed to raise more than £70,000 for some fantastic causes. The fact that the 2014 ball was sold out months in advance shows how popular our charity balls have become, and this years event did not disappoint and Im delighted to say is being talked about as “the best ever.
