Kelly joined Latimer Hinks in 2007 following a year spent travelling after graduating from university. Qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, Kelly is a fully accredited member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), an associate member of SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly) and Dementia Friend.

Areas of practice:

Kelly specialises in estate, wealth and tax planning. She is highly experienced in the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorneys and the preparation and administration of Trusts.  Kelly also has a wealth of experience administering estates, advising on asset protection and long term care and capacity issues and managing and dealing with clients’ personal affairs where there are Powers of Attorney or Deputyships in place.

Recent matters:

  • Undertaking Deeds of Variation for family member establishing Will Trusts for Inheritance Tax planning and asset protection purposes together with Lifetime Trusts, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney for the family members, again with Inheritance Tax planning and asset protection in mind
  • Undertaking a Probate application in an estate and undertaking contemporaneous planning utilising various reliefs to avoid the immediate charge to Inheritance Tax
  • Dealing with a complex Inheritance Tax Return for a Trust’s ten-year anniversary charge incorporating numerous additions to the Trust within the ten-year period, calculating and paying the tax due
  • Obtaining the Grant of Probate and administering a complex estate, including claims for Agricultural Property Relief and gifts out of surplus income exemption, and undertaking planning during the administration period to mitigate Capital Gains Tax on the sale of estate assets
