Having previously gained experience with Trusts and financial products working as a Technical Specialist Advisor for a life assurance and investment company, Geoff qualified as a solicitor in 2008.
Areas of practice:
Geoff is a fully accredited member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and a member of the North East and Cumbria STEP Committee. Geoff has also obtained The STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients.
Geoff prepares Wills and various Trusts to protect family assets for future generations
He also acts in the administration of estates and Trusts. Providing advice and structuring arrangements for trustees and beneficiaries to protect wealth and mitigate tax.
Geoff is experienced with matters concerning capacity and applications to the Court of Protection, together with managing the affairs of vulnerable clients.
Recent matters:
- Administering an intestate estate with numerous properties, which included foreign assets.
- Administration of estates, claiming the maximum amount of Inheritance Tax relief possible including gifts out of income exemption, Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief
- Preparing Wills and Trusts for families with vulnerable beneficiaries
- Undertaking Deeds of Variation for beneficiaries for Inheritance Tax planning and asset protection purposes
